Digs & Dice is a virtual series spotlighting and celebrating the power of games across human history. Join Penn Museum experts and game enthusiasts as we play games relevant to the collection and talk about fun and engaging topics related to archaeology, anthropology, and world cultures past and present.

In 1928, a joint expedition of the Penn Museum and British Museum to modern- day Iraq uncovered five ancient game boards dating ca. 2600–2400 BCE. Join Penn Museum experts as they play and discuss the Royal Game of Ur, share insights into this incredible Mesopotamian expedition, and examine how archaeologists learned how to play the oldest known board game in human history.
