| Description | Ganga jamuna kamkhwab coat or robe made for a male at the court. Purple with woven diagonal bands, alternating a conventional design in gold and a floral spray in silver. Center opening, bottom, edges of sleeves and a band over the shoulder are of black braid with a woven gold floral pattern. Lined with soft reddish brown silk. Silk woven with continuous silk and silver-gilt kalabattun supplementary patterning wefts. This type of textile is called kamkhwab, kinkhwab, kamkhab, or 'kincob' (lit. 'a little dream'). Also referred to as "Zari-work brocade." Remade; not original cut. |
