| Description | An oblong stone with a rough surface. Most likely a sling stone. Sling stones were widely used as projectile weapons in warfare across the Pacific. Typically oval or ovoid in shape, they were often selected from naturally rounded stones or deliberately shaped from dense volcanic rock to improve balance and flight. Used with slings made of plant fibers or other durable materials, these stones could be hurled with considerable force and accuracy. |
