Description | Embroidered with small bird designs and with two large painted figures of horned serpent monster. Cloth salmon colored; embroidery in red and brown. This textile is connected so it is a big roll (or circle). There is only one connecting seam running in the weft direction. The painted figures were painted after the embroidery was done (at another time). The painted figures are roughly 26 cm x 26 cm and depict (according to the catalogue notes "figures of horned serpents"). There are 9 rows of small embroidered figures. This piece might be affiliated with another textile in the collection # 29752. There is one row of embroidery featuring a spiral (or double helix) design. Color(s): Plain weave is a pink cotton. Embroidered figures are in a medium red and brown. The painted figure is in a reddish dye. . |
