Description

Sommerville: Sard. Hercules. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case WW.

Vermeule: Sard. Cameo. (Unmounted) Draped bearded bust to right, drapery resembles a lionskin knotted about the neck and the head of the lion appears to be worn as the headdress, presumably Herakles. Neo-Classic, the style that of a medieval gem.
