Description

A poho ku'i (paper box) made of one piece of kapa (Hawaiian bark cloth). The bark cloth is folded. The paper box has been stained. A patterned bark beater was used in the production of this bark cloth, leaving visible markings in the cloth. The pattern is similar to the Hawaiian bark-cloth beater pattern hoopai (parallel lines).

The pepa manu was made in the Museum by Hawaiian sailors in 1898.

Pepa pāʻani (paper play) is a children's game. Paper or kapa (Hawaiian bark cloth) is folded into different shapes.
