Description

Sommerville: Sardonyx. Constantine. Very fine cameo. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case Y.

Vermeule: Cameo (Unmounted). Diademed, draped, cuirassed bust of Constantine the Great to right. 18th or 19th century. The camoeo is an excellent copy from an ancient stone of the period when large cameos of the Augustan type enjoyed a major revival.
