Description

Mended, chips missing. 8 ancient holes for repair. Low ring base. Walls slope up gently to flaring rim, rounded and thckened on top. Rolled clay rope applied under exterior flare; pulled out to loop handles on one diameter, stopped to allow lifting edge on other diameter. Painted dec.: red/brown and purple. On exterior, bands. On interior, bands on outer edge and center, with frieze of animals between. Frieze: 2 panthers, lion, sphinx, horse (or dog?); details of faces incised. Incised rosettes and blobs in ground. Medium fabric, fine clay. Polished. Fired light brownish-buff.
