Description

Vermeule: Chalcedony. Intaglio. (Modern silver ring setting) Youthful figure, perhaps intended for Ares or a Trojan hero, such as Diomedes seated to right, on a garlanded altar. A sheated sword against his left arm and a dagger surmounted by a small figure reaching up to a star in his extended right hand; a crescent in field behind him. Graeco-Roman, perhaps with so-called "Gnostic" significance.
