Description | Sommerville: Ruby. A child's head. Unique and rare. Gold Rings - Cameos, Case III. Vermeule: Ruby-Hyacinth. Cameo. (Modern gold ring setting) Appears to be broken on all sides. Bust of a child or Eros facing, head turned slightly to right. Graeco-Roman in excellent style. The head of the child or Eros resembles the Julio-Claudian infant of the Prima Porto statue of Augustus. Perhaps a personal portrait ringstone although Eros often appears in the guise of a Roman. |
