Description | Bucchero pesante; handle set off with rotelle with relief female heads, relief panthers on body. Animals in relief. Heads in relief at top of handle. Figure in relief on handle. Bucchero molded and tooled. Trefoil-mouthed, ovoid body, low flared foot. 4 low relief hares seated left and grooved pendants on body, tongues and incision on shoulder, two human heads attachment on rim, relief warrior with head facing back on handle. Fabric: dark grey-core, coarse-grained with white and red inclusions. Glossy black surface. Condition: abraded. One piece missing. Large area right of handle restored with plaster and black paint. Technique: thrown in sections in a jigger on the wheel. Head attachments molded. Handle molded. Place of manufacture: Orvieto. |
