Description

Thunder Stick War Rattle. Handle of Bison vertebra. Bottom has hole with hide loop. Body wrapped in hide (brain-tanned, smoked deerskin); Above wrapping, brass bells with 2 attached hide strings of glass beads (black, gold, blue, red). Handle branches off left/right: Hide strings with bison/deer dewclaws on both sides. 4 brass hawk bells atop left side with 2 hide strings of multicolored glass beads. 5 brass bells atop right side with 2 hide strings of multicolored glass beads. Made by Black Eagle (Soshone-Yokut) in Copperopolis CA, c. 2002
