Sommerville: Onyx. A Bacchante. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case W.

Vermeule: Sardonyx. Cameo. (Unmounted). Draped bust of a Maenad to left. She is wearing vine leaves in her hair. The type is an ideal one which was much copied in the Renaissance and later periods. Graeco-Roman.
