Description | Body made in mold for Megarian bowl. Foot, shoulder, neck and lip added on wheel. Vertical strap handles with a crude, applique rotelle at base of each. Metallic black glaze over all exterior except for 3 wheel-run lines through glaze on shoulder. Top of lip and inner neck also glazed. On neck, A and B, a necklace design in applied clay, on shoulder. A and B, ivy tendrils in same technique. molded body decoratred in relief. Rosette on bottom encircled by a row of pointed leaves. Lower zone, repeated alternate krater and dolphin. Upper zone, laurel or olive pattern. Rim zone, egg and dart. Intact save for chip of lip and of one rotelle. Warm buff, hard clay, with fine gold mica. |
