Saddlebag

A large flat saddle bag made of animal skin. Rawhide side out is stained green. The bag is open across the top with two braided cords (one tan and one black) that form a handle. Attached to either side of the cords is long fringe. The bottom of the bag is rounded and the two legs are fastened with a flat narrow belt that is lashed with thin multi-colored leather strands. Long fringe is attached to each end. The neck of the bag is closed with a round tube lashed with thin multi-colored leather strands. Both the front and back of bag are decorated with appliques of various sizes and shapes of leather. The appliques are decorated with stained, tooled, incised, and cut geometric and curvilinear designs.
