| Description | A small kōkō (carrying net) made of several cords. The net has been broken. The net is used with a ipu pawehe (97-120-463A). Cordage (nā kaula) was fundamental to Hawaiian life. It secured fishing implements, supported house construction, lashed drums, and formed carrying devices such as kōkō, netting used to suspend calabashes and wooden bowls. |
