Description | A kendo fencing mask with a steel protective face grid; the grid portion has a vertical bar painted red on sides curving outward from chin to forehead; piercing this bar is a series of 14 horizontal rods of various lengths curving outward over face and anchored to a steel base that frames the face; this base is padded with hide and painted black on the exterior, a padded and stitched cottn head covering; open at the back, extends beyond the grid portion; two elongated bottom sections, when helmet is being work, flare over the shoulders; curved blacl leather pieces are stitched to the padded head piece with yellow thread at the sides of the upper neck area; the throat area of the mask has both an interior and exterior piece to provide protection to the throat; the exterior piece is decorated with stitching- one X design and 4 rocker desings; an interior heavily padded 1.5 inch oval piece of cotton is inserted to protect the forehead and provide a chin rest. |
