Description | side with handle flat and apparently undecorated. the opposite side slopes to a raised edge and a center raised nearly as high as the edge, decorated by encircling raised lines (broad ones boardered by narrow ones). object not cleaned except dirt not immediately about handle has been removed. considerable aorrosion, which has destroyed part of the left side of handle, which was undercut in cleaning, right side of handle in possition as found. The curved edge has a central fillet distinct all round, but this may be due to sprining apart in corrosion. The handle has no connection with the bronze of the mirror case. The bent back points of its fastening staples may have held it to woo or other perishable stuff, or possibly, as it is not in the center, it had no connecction with the mirror case? |
