Description

Sommerville: Pale Sardonyx. A Devotee. A very fine cameo. Note open mouth and teeth. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case X.

Vermeule: Cameo. (Unmounted) Broken at upper left and right. Bust of a woman wearing her garment about her head. Her expression of religious ecstasy suggests a saint is intended. 17th cent. work of the time of Bernini. The style is that of his St. Theresa d'Avila.
