| Description | Scraper? Triangular body. Stem may have broken off. 29-183-33 may be a small version of 2325 and 2324 which are examples of a type of scraper which is found throughout the Jomon period. The broken off stem is angled to one side. This style with broad body and narrow stem or knob is especially common in central and southern Japan. The museum's examples come from Shinshui, Chubu Region, Central Japan. Richard Pearson suggests that the stem may have been tied with a thread and then hung at the waist to have it handy for use. |
