Description | Ovoid body, cylindrical neck; one vertical loop handle shoulder to neck and cats head in full relief with pouches in low relief on body opposite handle. Red bottle with small head of cat and white paint lines Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an ovate body, cylindrical neck, rounded rim, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. The vessel has a mold-formed animal (Jaguar?) head attached to the shoulder and raised arms in relief. The vessel is painted red with white lines around the rim and neck and white painted on the cat head, arms, and on the body in the shape of legs (?). There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Evidence of usewear includes soot on the exterior and residue/accretions on the interior. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "3099." |
