Description

Ceremonial huipil for Cofradia. Unsewn, made of two panels of white cotton. Heavily brocaded in cotton and silk with stylized animal motifs in purple, green, magenta, orange, blue, yellow and red. One green selvedge and one red selvedge. Neckline is embroidered.

As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 44 epi, three singles, Z twist, white cotton. Weft: 18 ppi, four singles, Z twist, white cotton. Warp is predominantly plain weave. Supplementary weft is two faced with the first and last borders single faced. Two panels, four selvedges each. Woven on a backstrap loom."
