Description | Probably spruce root; twined; "Bucket" shape; cylindrical with flat bottom; rounded edges; straight sides. Bottom concave towards middle. Closely woven with two different kinds of stitch; top and bottom borders have one kind, while broad middle section is done in stitch that resembles open-work stitch, but is very tight. Row of braided twining separates sides and bottom which is more coarsely twined. Rim has braided finish. Torn in places; mended with commercial string; one tear patched with piece of skin or hide. May have had handle. |
