Knife Handle

As Woolley noted, because this handle is quite thin, it must have been mounted together with a similar piece against a central slip of wood or metal. Its three holes would have served as a means of attaching it. The triangular arrangement of the holes calls to mind the positioning of the rivets that secured dagger blades to handles, and perhaps the piece was in fact part of the handle of a dagger. A carved lion decorates the handle’s end.
