Description | Vohara text describing the deeds of great people; includes a relic history. In Pali (Lanna). Two lateral holes with tie cord. Letters blackened in. Mistakes stricken through with stylus, sometimes blackened in, sometimes not. Some omitted letters added interlinearly, their place in the text being marked with a cross [X]; these not blackened in. F. kai was originally lettered ko, black powder having been rubbed over the syllable kai. F. ko was originally lettered kao, but the distinguished line between ko and kao has been stricken through with stylus. F. kao was relettered kam or ku in the same fashion as kai from ko. F. ku (?) has been relettered kha, but the modification mark for the long a has been stricken through, and ff. kha and khi appear to have been lettered in accordance with the changes since black powder has not been rubbed over either letter. The script of the text is neat and clear, but not grandise, ornate.=, or elegant as Lao tham script tends to be. Some interlacing, as in Lao lu script, in the Lao or related dialect addenda. Written in 4 lines per leaf. Leaves of palm leaf with two central holes approximately 17 cm apart; tied through the left hole; some leaves partial, some edges damaged. Written in Thailand, possibly in the 18th century. |
