Description

Wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted white with triangular, hachured areas below the eyes. The chin has multicolored lines radiating down from around the mouth. An elaborate, stepped, tableta headdress is attached to the head painted white, yellow and red. A painted, white and red blanket is wrapped around the body over top of painted feathers arranged vertically. This figure is a Salako Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #117, Wright, B., 1973 #248)
