Description | Rectangular tablet; broken on both proper left and right. Double inscribed border on top and bottom. Latin inscription; 4 lines: (p)ERPERNAE M L OSSA HIC SITA SV(nt) (pe)RPERNAM L PHILA(delphus) POLITOR EBORARIV. Translation: The bones of (Marcus) Perperna, freedman of Marcus, lie here. (Marcus) Perperna Philadelphus, freedman of Marcus, an ivory polisher (errected this monument). |
