Description | Eye cup. Broken and mended from many pieces; frr. missing from floor and rim and large chip from foot. Badly restored. Flat spreading foot with plain profile; wide hollow stem, raised ring at its top. Rim continuous with body, ends of handles bent upward slightly. Interior: central medallion with Gorgoneion, RF technique. Purple dots on hair, and for tongue; white for teeth and lines of hair. Exterior: A. Helmet, right between the eyes; grape tendrils and clusters in a field. White around irises of eyes and for row of dots on crest of helmet; purple for pupils of eyes, stripe on helmet crest, and leaves of wreath around helmet; Exterior B: same as A. The glaze peeled in places, especially on side B. |
