Description | Sommerville: Egyptian Jasper. A ring. Crucifixion. Byzantine with gold letters, sixth century A.D. Byzantine, Case II. Vermeule: Egyptian Jasper. Cameo. (Modern Gold Ring Setting). Scene of the crusifiction., two kneeling figures arranged symmetrically either side of the cross. Inlaid gold lettering INRI. Gold inlay beneath feet of Christ. Termed by Sommerville Bysantine, VIth A.D. and undoubtedly medieval. |
