Description | Roman Empire eagle. Patina is black with dark green patches. Surface is worn. Bird stands on large taloned feet, with tail touching back of base. Eyes are punched circles placed in front of a hole piercing head from side to side, which was probably used for suspension. Schematized breast feathers were executed by incisions; faint traces of feathers on back and wings. |
