Description | Wood ear plug. Carved from soft wood, smoothed with a rough leaf, blackened with charcoal and resin. This style worn by men only. A young man's ears are pierced with lemon thorns, which are left in to prevent infection or healing shut. The perforations are stretched by the insertion of plugs of this kind, of increasing size. Eventually a disc (see 89-17-74) is substituted for the plug. |
