| Description | Dotaku. Metal bell put at corners of Buddhist temple. Inscriptions on the corners and around the rim. There are four characters in a xiaozhuan-derived archaistic script. Each of these characters is placed inside a large ornamental cartouche. It reads: 寂滅爲樂 or “Extinction is bliss.” This phrase occurs in the Nirvana sutra. |
