| Description | Bronze. With wood haft still fitted into the metal and bound around with metal bands. Spearhead. Bands consist of eight bronze spirals which tighten their diameter from24mm to 21 mm at their juncture with the spearhead. The edge of the spear has a notch for the end of the spiral to fit in. The spearblade is leaf shaped and fits in to an 8 sided body. Two nail or butt holes for attachment to the spear shaft are in line with the blade on opposite sides of the spearhead. The wooden shaft end is preserved to a few millimeters beyond the length of the spiral. Good preservation - wood consolidated. |
