Description | Crepe. Flowered designed produced by resist dyeing. Blue and white on brown. Sleeves - diagonal stripe-blue, pink and white. Tapestry-panel front and back design; trimmings. Men and trees etc. Colors olive and medium green, blue, purple, red, yellow, tan and white. Tapestry fringe with bird design. Was thrown over the bale. The two main panels are constructed in a looser weave (most likely crepe). The center panel, neck area, and the border/fringe are constructed by a tapestry weave technique. The sections are sewn together in an whip stitch. Color(s): Poncho's main section (crepe) appears to be colored from a dye post weaving in a floral design though very faint. The crepe sleeve that remains is also resist dyed, but has a striped design. The dye process is most likely a "resist dyeing". The middle panel and border (tapestry weave) are decorated with men and trees with stripes around the neck. The colors of the tapestry portions are olive green, yellow, beige, tan, red and blue. . |
