| Description | Vermeule: Plasma? Cameo. (Modern gold ring setting). Laureate, draped cuirassed bearded man with features of the Greek philosopher type, to right. 18th or 19th century. Vermuele: Plasma? Cameo. (Modern gilt ring mount). Laureate, draped bust of a man to right. The features (of the "Aristotle" type) are copied from some older gem or Renaissance composition after the antique. Or the development of the Renaissance "Aristotle" from a Samothracian bust, see K. Lehmann, Hesperia. (This piece has two separate, but similar, Vermeule cards). |
