Description | "the shape of the . . .pot is something of an anomaly for it has the general features of a krater-amphora but the total impression it makes is more that of a jug shape: wide low ring base, bloated ovoid body, relatively narrow neck." Complete and mended. Warped. Neck mended unsuccessfully in antiquity so that one handle does not join properly. Clay: light gray-brown to gray-buff and gray-blue. Surface vertically polished. Paint: purple brown. Rim solid with narrow reserved barred band; wide band under rim. Paint over (ancient) mending plaster of neck, on sides of handles and on base. 6 narrow bands below shoulder zigzag on handles. |
