Shirt

Composed of four pieces of native tanned hide; sides open with laces; red stroud around neck; four bands of beadwork done on canvas backing attached to shirt (diamonds and split diamonds in yellow and green outlined in dark blue and brown against white background using spot stitch)--two long bands over each shoulder, wider bands down each sleeve; 11 ermine skins wrapped in red stroud attached to each sleeve; 4 ermine skins around neck opening; 42 "tadpole" designs (15 each on front and back and 6 on back of each sleeve) painted with mineral paint; commercial cotton thread used for sewing.

Condition: Most ermine fur, some skin, some stroud has been eaten away. Some bead loss on LP strip on front. Sent for freezing and cleaning 6/91. Shirt is probably part of an ensemble consisting of leggings (70-9-547 a and b) and Moccasins (70-9-546ab) all have tag with the same had written "#8".
