Description

Tomb 3A = Herscher Tomb 803A. Red polished III spouted jug. Well-fired brown clay with thick gray interior. Lustrous brown slip with red areas. Round base, ovoid body; cylindrical neck, long curved cutaway spout; tubular spout from mid-body; vertical handle from rim to upper body; angular vertical lug at front neckline, two horizontal semicircular projections on spout, two hemispherical knobs on front of neck. Incised decoration: on either side, a vertical zigzag with parallel row of hatching; groups of three punctured dots at angles; on front neck, vertical triple zigzag with groups of three punctured dots at angles, vertical rows on hatching; on handle, alternating hatching.
