| Description | Scraper. Long handle. Same curving and slightly twisted shape as stemmed scrapers but not indented at stem. Shiny black obsidian. Scrapers were found throughout the Jomon period. 29-183-13 may be compared with the elongated stemmed scrapers such as 29-183-2, 29-183-3, 29-183-10, 29-183-12 and 29-183-26 which are especially prevalent in northern Japan. This example comes from Hokkaido. |
