Description

Obv. 寛永通寳 Kan'ei Tsūhō Rev. 文 Bun. Shin Kanei. Minted at Kameido (亀戸), Edo (江戸), Musashi province (武蔵). These types of coins are said to be made from the dregs of the melted Daibutsu (Great Buddha) housed at the Buddhist temple Hoko-ji (方広寺) and destroyed in an earthquake on June 16, 1662 CE in the Kyoto area.
