Description | Flat, wooden Katsina cradle doll. The face is painted green with rectangular eyes and a protruding snout. The forehead has a red and black horizontal band with a notch between the eyes. The ears are circular flower blossoms with a feather sticking out. A tuft of black and yellow feathers is attached to the back. Two multipronged, black horns rise from the head. The body is painted white and red. This figure is the Antelope (Chof or Chub) Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #90, Wright, B., 1973 #165) |
