Description

Flat base, tapering body, cylindrical neck with everted rim. Two vertical loop handles on body. Painted with frogs. Painted in red-white-black

Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an ovate body, missing neck, missing rim, 2 strap handles on the body, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel has a red slip (?) and is painted with a frog pattern in white, red, maroon, and black. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink on the bottom of the base. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1572."
