Description

The plinth is a segment of a circle in pnlan, a raised band 0.008m. broad, horizontal, along lower edge of front. The plinth is 0.025 high at left rising to 0.033 at right. Male goat in profile advancing to right, left foreleg raised. Eros astride on his back, body and head turned outward toward his proper right. Eros' left hand on goat's neck, right hand on own thigh. Curly hair, shoulder length. Wings open. Nude except for cloak hanging down back on which he sits, a section covering his left thigh. Traces of pink on plinth, goat and Eros, and of blue on Eros' cloak. Mended from several pieces. Complete except for outer parts of Eros' wings; traces of glue at breaks, but donor was unable to find joining pieces at time she originally lent the piece. Back of figure not modelled. Firing vent in back 0.035m. in diam. Bottom open. Light brownish-buff clay.
