Description

Sommerville: Thin maculated red agate. The goat Amalthea, on of whoc hors Zeus afterwards gave to the daughters of Melilsseus. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case E.

Vermeule: Thin Red Agate. Cameo. (Unmounted) A goat feeding at a water-trough. All set in a landscape with rocks, foliage and trees. Sommerville identifies her as the goat "Amalthea," 19th century.
