Description

Etruscan-Corinthian ring-aryballos. Small Corinthian, perfume bottle, circular body forming ring. Cream clay - fine texture. Circular, footless outer edges of vase rounded, upper and lower sides flattish, neck smooth with thick perpendicular lip. Rim circular with small mouth. Single thick strap handle attached at rounded edge near neck. Decoration: design painted brown with red added. Single wide band of brown on upper and lower sides. Frieze composed of 3 stags, and numerous blob filling ornaments placed on outer edges. Formless filling ornaments brown. Stags brown with red paint added on shoulders and ribs. Band of brown dots on lip. Small brown rays on rim. Outer surface of handle brown. Incision added to stags in frieze zone indicating shoulders and ribs. Preservation: Rim chipped.
