Description | Vermeule: Carnelian. Intaglio. (Modern silver ring setting) A group of four warriors of Greek Heroic type. The subject difficult to identify is perhaps the visit of the Greek heros to Philoctetes on the Island of Lemnos. Neo-Classic, imitating a composition in an ancient painting or decorative stucco, such as those from Nero's Golden House, the imperial palaces on the Palatine or perhaps the Campanian cities. |
