Description

Two panels sewn together. Red and brown design with four distinct patterns, two with smaller icons and two with bold stripes. Woman’s skirt (pa’u) (Peale) or man’s loincloth (malo) (Kaeppler). Acquired during the United States Exploring Expedition (1838-1842) by Titian R. Peale. “Tapa dress [garment]. (Man’s).” on Peale list.
