Description | Twined hat made from split spruce root. Construction originates in the top center and radiates outward. Narrows toward the flattened top and flares outward toward the lower rim. The upper half uses two-strand twining while the lower half uses a combination of two and three-strand twining to create a pattern of concentric diamonds. The exterior is painted on the top with a four-pointed, red and black star. The sides are painted red and black with a design of either a sea lion or a seal. The interior is undecorated. The rim has a woven braid painted red. Woven by Isabella Edenshaw and painted by Charles Edenshaw. |
