Ways to Save at the Penn Museum this Summer: Free Admission with Wawa Welcome America, Second Sundays and Other Offers
PHILADELPHIA — As part of ongoing efforts to make archaeology and anthropology accessible to all, the Penn Museum offers multiple ways for families and individuals to save on their museum-going adventures this summer, beginning with free admission on Sunday, June 27, during the 2021 Wawa Welcome America Festival.
Free admission continues on the Second Sundays during July and August. A promo code will be released online at penn.museum/calendar for free admission to the Penn Museum on July 11 and August 15. Advance registration is recommended.
Through Labor Day, active-duty military personnel, reservists, and their families receive free admission as a part of the Blue Star Museums program, a collaboration between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums across the United States. To redeem, a valid military ID is required at the welcome desk.
U.S. military veterans and all teachers with identification receive free admission all year long.
Patients at Penn Medicine and their families, along with patients at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and their families, receive free admission through the Penn Museum Passport program. Penn Medicine and CHOP employees are also admitted at no cost.
Teens (ages 13-19) receive free admission Tuesday-Friday from 3-5 pm, and Saturday-Sunday from 10 am-5 pm, when they mention their zip code and school at the welcome desk.
Students who attend any college or university will receive free admission Tuesday-Friday from 3-5 pm, when they present a valid college ID to the welcome desk.
ACCESS/EBT card holders receive $2 admission when they present their ID at the desk.
“Expanding museum access is an institutional priority,” says Ellen Owens, Merle-Smith Director of Learning and Public Engagement at Penn Museum. “We want to ensure that cost isn’t a barrier when considering a visit this summer. In addition, we are providing free programs onsite every day in July and August. Our team is thrilled to interact with visitors in person again.”
Other ways to save through institutional partnerships include:
Art Staycation grants admission to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Penn Museum at reduced rates. An adult combination ticket is $33, offering a savings of $10. A family four-pack, which covers admission to both institutions for two adults and two children under 18 is $80, yielding approximately $20 in savings. Offer is valid through Monday, September 6, 2021.
SEPTA and New Jersey Transit card holders receive $2 off of their admission when they present their transit cards to the desk.
